River West
River West
As the River North neighborhood kept expanding, River West became its own community and neighborhood. Originally part of the meat packing industry, the neighborhood has transformed many warehouses and factories into highly sought-after loft style residential homes.
Commuting is a breeze in River West as it’s close to the expressway and only a mile away from the city center. The blue line runs through the neighborhood, allowing residents to reach downtown in a few minutes, or a direct line to O’Hare airport. The Northwest running Milwaukee Avenue flanks the neighborhood’s boundary, which can bring residents to other exciting areas of the city like Wicker Park, Logan Square, and more.
River West’s restaurant scene is popular not only amongst its own residents, but many Chicago locals. In the morning, there is a wide selection of coffee shops offering their own specialty blends. For a good meal, the neighborhood hosts a number of different cuisines and in the evening the area transforms into a lively night scene with cocktail bars and dance clubs. The streets are also lined with art galleries that frequently change their exhibits and featured artists.
